At the start of 2009, at a family party I was speaking to my uncle about his many motorbikes, and the fact that I should really get my licence - my dad, uncles and grandfather all rode motorcycles.  He mentioned a trip to the Bonneville Celebration in August and said, “if you get your licence, I’ll give you a classic ‘Bonny’ to ride down on.”

Say no more.

I passed my test (at the second attempt) in May and have had a few ride outs on the Bonny pictured below over the last few evenings.  The 800 mile round trip is now only a week away and I’ve not got much time left to practice.

On Thursday 12th August we plan to leave after rush hour and head south, hoping to get at least halfway before pitching a tent and roughing it for the night.  On the Friday, we’ll head to Gaydon and return over two days (probably) on Sunday and Monday.

I’ll keep you posted on the run up and - hopefully - during the ride.
