I’m quite enjoying this running malarkey.

Exactly a year ago, I took part in my first ever 10k run. As of today, I’ve completed three 10ks and a half marathon.
Yesterday was the annual Great Scottish Run, where over 22,000 people took to the streets of Glasgow to take part in either the 10k or the half marathon. This year, I’d moved up a level and had an attempt at the half marathon. I finished in a time of 1h 59m 42s, a bit slower than my goal of 1h 50m. That said, I’d hoped to get under 2 hours and at least I achieved this goal.
The run wasn’t as tough as I’d expected it to be; the reason for the slower than desired time was mainly because I didn’t pace myself correctly and started off too slow. Oh well, lesson learned.
Do I do the half marathon again next year, or do I move up a level to the full marathon? There’s no Glasgow Marathon (although I hear that might be changing soon) so I’d need to travel to Edinburgh, perhaps to complete the 26.2 mile event. I’ll have a think and figure out what I want to do.
In the meantime, I have PBs in 5k (at Glasgow Parkrun), 10k and half marathon to beat - 00:25:38, 00:49:43 and 01:59:42 respectively. Over the course of the next 12 months I’d like to get under 20m for the 5k, 45m for the 10k and 01:45:00 for the half marathon (should I decide to put myself through that event once more).
